Arizona State football player Raythan Smith was arrested Monday in Tempe for allegedly shooting a man during a fight after a fraternity dance Saturday night.
Smith, 19, of Tulsa, Okla., was charged with attempted murder in the shooting in a school parking garage. Smith, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker was being held in the Maricopa County Jail and has been suspended from the football team. The redshirt freshman did not play last season because of a shoulder injury.
The victim was shot in the chest but did not have life-threatening injuries, a school spokesman said.
