NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Drywall Spill Closes Hollywood Freeway

Share

A jackknifed tractor-trailer truck unleashed a load of 840 sheets of drywall onto the Hollywood Freeway in North Hollywood on Tuesday, forcing authorities to close the four northbound lanes during rush hour and into the evening.

The truck jackknifed just before 5 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at Victory Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Louis Borunda said. CHP officials closed the northbound lanes and began diverting traffic onto Victory a quarter of an hour later. Traffic was still backed up to Lankershim Boulevard two hours later.

Two lanes were reopened about 8:20 p.m.; the others were not scheduled to be reopened until 11 p.m.
