SUN VALLEY : Man Fatally Shot in Drive-By Attack

An unidentified man in his early 20s was killed Wednesday in a drive-by shooting in Sun Valley, Los Angeles police said.

The attack occurred about 3:40 p.m. in the 7500 block of Vineland Avenue near Stagg Street, Police Lt. Michael Ranshaw said. Witnesses saw an unknown number of assailants in a pickup truck fire at the victim, who collapsed on the sidewalk.

The man was taken to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where he was pronounced dead.

Ranshaw said the attack was probably gang-related because the shooting occurred in an area often frequented by gang members. But it was not immediately known if the victim had any gang ties.
