Pro, Con Responses to Q & A With Galanter

Thank you for your recent Q & A with Councilwoman Ruth Galanter (Times, Feb. 16), where I learned that she has been excluded from some discussions and gatherings regarding airport-related matters. I live near LAX, and Councilwoman Galanter has been elected by this community to represent our interests in this district. The airport is definitely one of our interests. I consider it essential that our councilwoman receive timely notice so that she can attend any and all meetings, discussions, junkets and gatherings related to the airport.

If Councilwoman Galanter is being excluded intentionally because of her views regarding airport matters, this reveals a cynical disrespect for the democratic process in this city. I know the councilwoman’s views on the airport are not always popular, but maybe that’s why we elected her. It is essential that she have every opportunity to participate in the issues that affect our community.
