Bus Hijacked to Santa Clarita
Authorities were searching Sunday for a man who hijacked an empty Southern California Rapid Transit District bus at gunpoint and forced the driver to ferry him 35 miles from West Los Angeles to the Santa Clarita Valley.
The man climbed aboard the bus about 6:10 p.m. Saturday as driver Ajay Gandhi took a break at the West Los Angeles Transit Center at Washington Boulevard and Apple Street, district spokesman Anthony Greno said.
Greno said the hijacker pointed a pistol at Gandhi’s head and ordered him to start driving. About 40 minutes later, the gunman told Gandhi to stop near Sierra Highway and Jakes Way in Santa Clarita, where he jumped from the bus and ran into the brush, Greno said.
Gandhi was not injured.
