Fund Set Up for Slain Boy’s Family
A fund has been established to help the family of a 5-year-old Carson boy fatally injured by a random gunshot last week as he was walking with his mother and two smaller brothers.
Adrian Benitez, a kindergartner at Broad Avenue School in Wilmington, died Tuesday after six days on life support at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Harbor City, authorities said.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have not discovered who fired the shot that hit Adrian in the head and said the bullet could have been discharged from anywhere within a two-mile radius. Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at (213) 974-4341.
