Houston Suspends Olajuwon
The Houston Rockets indefinitely suspended center Hakeem Olajuwon without pay Monday after a dispute over whether he is suffering from a hamstring injury.
Olajuwon and the team are involved in a contract dispute.
Leonard Armato, Olajuwon’s agent, said he planned to file a grievance against the Rockets after further talks with the NBA Players Assn.
The situation reached impasse Saturday night when Olajuwon refused to suit up for the Rockets’ 100-97 loss to Sacramento. He said a hamstring injury he suffered last Tuesday still bothered him, although doctors gave him medical clearance to play.
