PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : No. 1 Huntington Beach Rallies to Win

Huntington Beach, the top-ranked baseball team in the county, scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat fourth-ranked Ocean View, 9-8, in a Sunset League game Tuesday.

Craig Dadelow singled in Steve Giffen with the winning run for the Oilers (9-0, 1-0 in league), who rallied from a four-run deficit in the fourth inning.

Rich Crowe hit a bases-loaded triple to highlight a five-run second inning, which put Ocean View (5-2, 0-1) ahead, 5-1. Derek Glascoe hit a grand slam in the fourth for Huntington Beach, knocking out Seahawk starter Seth Bartels. Glascoe pitched five innings of relief for the victory.

In another Sunset League game:

Marina 1, Fountain Valley 0--David Anderson singled home Joe Snyder with the game’s only run in the second inning. Nick St. George pitched a three-hitter, striking out six and walking six for host Marina (4-5, 1-0).

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 2, Troy 1--La Habra shortstop Steve Busch singled in Mark Picco with the go-ahead run in the fourth inning for La Habra (4-1, 1-0) in a game that was postponed by rain last week.

Troy (1-5, 0-1) and La Habra each scored in the third inning.

In South Coast League baseball:

El Toro 8, San Clemente 2--Marc Ver Wayne allowed one earned run and gave up six hits for the visiting Chargers (3-3, 1-0). Ryan Fullerton had three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Chris Adams also had 2 RBIs.

In Pacific Coast League baseball:

Estancia 3, Century 0--Kyle Wilson pitched a three-hitter for host Estancia (3-3, 1-0). The senior right-hander also struck out four and has allowed only five hits and an unearned run in 18 innings this season.

In Empire League baseball:

Katella 3, El Dorado 1--George Schalip and Ronnie Gallego combined on a five-hitter, allowing an unearned run in the first inning for the host Knights (3-5, 1-0) at Boysen Park. El Dorado is 4-3, 0-1.
