PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Ward and Washington Spark Woodbridge Past El Toro, 1-0

Allison Ward singled in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Woodbridge to a 1-0 victory over El Toro in a nonleague softball game Thursday at Woodbridge.

Stacy Washington pitched the final four innings to improve her record to 4-2 for the Warriors (10-3).

In other nonleague games:

Santa Ana 12, Newport Harbor 0--Stacy Lumley pitched a no-hitter for Santa Ana (5-5) in a game shortened because of the mercy rule. Cynthia Trotter had a home run and a triple for the Saints.

El Dorado 2, La Habra 1--Traci Vargas drove in a run to tie the score in the fifth and then scored the winning run on an error in the same inning. Winning pitcher Melissa Miller (1-1) pitched a complete game for El Dorado (4-1).

University 1, Trabuco Hills 0--Jenny Whiteley scored on a throwing error for University (4-6) in the fourth inning. Michele Ponce (3-1) had 10 strikeouts for the Trojans.

Calvary Chapel 5, Century 4--Sandy Ferris drove in Amy Perez to score the winning run in the bottom of sixth for Calvary Chapel (3-4). Calvary Chapel pitcher Kim Schroy struck out 15.

Troy 2, Saddleback 1--Heidi Schmidt had an RBI single and pitched four innings to earn the victory for Troy (6-1).

Edison 3, Esperanza 0--Kaleki Keawe drove in Amy Hulbrock and Stephanie Hinkey with a double in the sixth inning for Edison (3-2). Esperanza is 3-7.

Estancia 9, Magnolia 7--Estancia scored four runs in the sixth inning to ensure its first victory of the season. Raena Yangisawa had three hits and four RBIs and Leah Braatz had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs for the Eagles (1-4).

In the Garden Grove League:

Kennedy 1, Pacifica 0--Lana Jimenez drove in Nicole Paloney for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Kennedy (4-2). Paloney was two for two, including a double and a walk.

Rancho Alamitos 9, Bolsa Grande 3--Jennifer Robinson drove in Maria Delgado for the fourth run in the fourth inning for Rancho Alamitos (3-4, 1-1). Delgado was pinch-running for Jill Otto. Bolsa Grande is 4-1, 1-1 in league.

In the third-place game of the Fullerton tournament:

Fullerton 2, Rosary 0--Cathleen Kennedy threw a one-hitter and struck out six for Fullerton (4-4). Nicole Wangler two hits and an RBI for the Indians.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 9, Westminster 0--Jodi Bixler went three for three with two runs scored and an RBI for Fountain Valley (7-2, 2-0).
