Dana Hills Students Find City Hall’s Views on Eatery Hard to Swallow

Share

As a student from Dana Hills High School I have something to say in response to your article, “Officials Say Eatery Hard to Swallow.” Closing the campus would be disastrous!

We would have to hire more proctors to make sure everyone stayed at school, and our school of 2,700-plus students would be even more crammed and crunched. To solve the tension across the street, we can’t have the doughnut shop bought out either--that would violate the rights of the shopkeepers, which is un-American. City Hall could have our campus become closed, but that isn’t facing up to the deficiencies of our strained education system.

To get the open campus privilege at the beginning of each school year, parents must sign for you. Many persons who are troublemakers across the street have that signature forged. Since this is a privilege, it should be available only for those with a good record from the previous year. Ultimately a crackdown against those who misuse the system is in order.
