Search Continues for Navy Pilot
The Navy Saturday continued its search for the missing pilot of an FA-18 attack fighter plane that crashed into the ocean while on a night carrier landing exercise off the aircraft carrier Ranger off the coast of San Diego.
The accident occurred about 8:20 p.m. Friday after the plane had been waved off from a landing on the carrier, officials said
The missing pilot, who was not identified, is assigned to the Fighter Attack Squadron-125 based at Naval Air Station in Lemoore, Calif.
The Navy said several helicopters and support ships participated in the search.
