VERBATIM

When the PR firm Guttman & Pam Ltd. gave screenwriter Blake Snyder an opportunity to pontificate on film and art in a recent press release, he mounted an impressive defense for the term “high concept.”

“It’s been tainted,” he says. “High concept sounds like a relic of the ‘80s, commercial and crass. It really should be called high definition. High concept is easy to sell, but high definition is easier to see. After all, a good idea is still a good idea.”

True. And not all that surprising from one of the creative forces behind the commercially untainted “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”
