PREP TRACK AND FIELD : Davidson Carries Saddleback

Charlie Davidson of Saddleback won both sprints and a long-awaited showdown with Woodbridge’s Greg Muniz in the 110-meter hurdles Thursday to lead the Roadrunners to a 75-61 victory in a Sea View League boys’ track and field meet at Saddleback.

It was Saddleback’s fourth consecutive dual-meet victory.

Davidson won the 100 meters in 10.9 seconds and came back to win the 200 in 23.0. He also anchored Saddleback’s winning 400-meter relay team.

In the biggest event of the day, Davidson raced past Muniz for a one-second victory in the 110 hurdles, 14.2 to 15.2. Saddleback’s Mel Lete won the long jump and was also a member of the Roadrunners’ 400-meter relay team.

Angelus League girls:

St. Joseph 67, Rosary 38--Andrea Barclay won the 100 (12.2), 400 (1:06.75) and ran a leg on the Royals’ victorious 1,600 relay team at St. John Bosco.

Empire League boys:

Loara 105, El Dorado 30--Ed Presbury won the 100 (11.1), 200 (22.9) and 400 meters (53.9) and anchored the winning 400-meter relay team (44.1), and Bryan Blanks won the 110 (16.6) and 300 hurdles (44.1), and the discus (128 feet 1 inch) for Loara.

Freeway League boys:

Sonora 91, Troy 31--Derek Sapico (110 hurdles, long jump) and Andrew Magdaleno (100, 200) were double winners for Sonora (2-0 in league).

Freeway league girls:

Sonora 91, Troy 36--Lisa Knott, Casie Lozano, Nina Lynch and Trashawn Banford were double winners for Sonora (2-0 in league).

Orange League boys:

Brea-Olinda 87, Anaheim 49--Chris Conrad won the shot put and the discus with marks 53-8 1/2 and 139-1 for host Brea-Olinda (7-2, 2-0). Sophomore Carl Daucher won the 1,600 and 3,200 for the Wildcats.

Orange League girls:

Brea-Olinda 93, Anaheim 34--Heidi Allred was a triple winner (100, 200 and long jump) and helped the 400 relay team to victory for Brea-Olinda (3-5, 1-1).

Western 88, Magnolia 30--Senior Thuy Tran swept the 100 (12.8), long jump (15-9), and triple jump (29-7). Two-time Orange League champion Klanzaa Gibson won the 220 (27.7) and the 440 (1:13.6).

Sea View League boys:

Corona del Mar 72, Newport Harbor 64--Tony Mancuso won the shot put with a mark of 52-11 3/4 and threw the discus 140-5 for Newport Harbor (0-2 in league). Corona del Mar is 2-0 in league.

Sea View League girls:

Newport Harbor 82, Corona del Mar 45--Kala Ross won three events for Newport Harbor (2-0). She ran the 100 in 12.5 seconds, won the high jump with a 5-7 mark and went 17-2 in the long jump.

South Coast League boys:

Dana Hills 80, Irvine 56--Ryan Crane won the 100 meters (11.3), the 110 hurdles (14.85) and the 300 hurdles (39.2) for Dana Hills. Ho Pak won the long jump and triple jump for the Dolphins (3-0, 2-0).

South Coast League girls:

Dana Hills 93, Irvine 34--Rajai Espinosa won the 800 and 1,600 and Adara Newidouski won the shot put and discus for Dana Hills (3-0, 2-0).

Sunset League boys:

Westminster 84, Edison 51--Christian Moore won the 100 (11.2), 200 (23.0), 400 (51.9) and ran legs on the Lions’ victorious 400 and 1,600 relay teams at Edison.
