VENTURA : Transient Injured in Fall From Train

A 36-year-old transient fell from the top of a moving freight train north of Ventura on Saturday afternoon and landed in the only cactus patch in the area, investigators said.
Willie E. Brown was in fair condition at Ventura County Medical Center, officials said. Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Backman said authorities were not planning to arrest Brown for hopping the freight train.
“I think he’s had enough punishment,” Backman said.
