Man Held After Girlfriend Killed
A woman was shot to death in her apartment Saturday morning, and her live-in boyfriend was arrested, police said.
Police received reports of gunfire at the Gramercy Apartments, 1727 W. Glenoaks Ave., and arrived shortly after to find the 34-year-old victim dead with a gunshot wound to her head, Anaheim Police Sgt. Thomas Lahmon said. Her name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Her boyfriend, Udell S. Madden III, 42, was in the apartment when officers arrived, Lahmon said. The couple had been living together at the complex for the last several months.
A handgun, believed to be the weapon used, was also found in the apartment, Lt. Ray Welch said.
After questioning Madden, detectives arrested him on suspicion of murder, Lahmon said. He is being held at the Anaheim Temporary Detention Facility on $250,000 bail.
Neighbors who were interviewed at the gated, three-story complex one block from Anaheim Plaza said they were not aware of the pre-dawn shooting until they saw police later.
