L.A. FIESTA BROADWAY : Producer Has Varied Background
As executive producer of L.A. Fiesta Broadway, Mario Proenza III oversees all operations from hiring bands to handling security. He was a member of the creative team that developed and produced the first street festival in 1990.
Proenza joined KMEX in late 1989 and is currently its director of special events and promotions, coordinating coverage of parades, concerts, entertainment specials and other features.
Before going to KMEX, Proenza worked for USA Sports Network/Sports Channel America and KVEA-TV, Telemundo Network’s Los Angeles affiliate.
In 1984, he joined ABC-TV as a coordinator and supervisor for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Proenza has also served as executive director of KMEX’s “Navidad en el Barrio” telethon for three years and developed the Conexion Deportiva sports program.
Originally from Texas, Proenza attended high school in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and communications from San Francisco State University.
