Baldwin Park : Youth Commission Proposal

Share

Councilman Martin Gallegos last week asked that the city reconsider its decision not to establish a youth commission.

Earlier this month, the Baldwin Park Human Services Commission decided that such a group of students who would discuss issues and make recommendations to the city was not necessary.

But Gallegos said he wants the two students now on the Human Services Commission to get input from their schools and report back on the idea.

“It seems that the youth today are expressing much more desire to get involved,” Gallegos said.

City Manager Donald Penman said he has been asked to establish two student advisory seats on the City Council.

Council members decided to wait for the student commissioners’ report before deciding whether to establish another panel.
