The crunch stays, along with the spicy cheese taste and the orange stuff that rubs off on your hands and lips.

But Frito-Lay Inc. said a new formula for nacho cheese Doritos will make an important change: less Dorito breath.

“It turned out to be a pleasant side benefit” of a new seasoning,” said Stephen Liguori, vice president of marketing at Plano-based Frito-Lay.

The “nacho cheesier” Doritos will hit stores May 2. Frito-Lay cooks, truck drivers and marketers will spend their Saturday handing out 5 million snack-size bags in grocery store parking lots nationwide.
