Man Arrested After 2 Stabbed in Brea
A Diamond Bar man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Wednesday night after he allegedly attacked two men with a screwdriver during an apparent race-related fight, police said.
Police said Michael Tarantino, 31, pulled out a screwdriver during an argument near Lambert Road and Brea Boulevard about 5:30 p.m.
Octavio Zavala, 19, of Brea and Nariman Farsaie, 20, of Yorba Linda suffered minor stab wounds and were treated at the scene, said Police Detective Terry Fincher.
Tarantino drove off but officers stopped him a short distance away at Imperial Highway and Walnut Avenue, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and perpetrating a hate crime.
Detectives are investigating the incident as a hate-crime based on statements Tarantino made when he was arrested and what he said during the argument, Fincher said.
