Passenger Injured in Truck Accident

SANTA ANA — A Whittier man was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving Saturday evening after driving a pickup into a concrete barrier along Interstate 5 in Santa Ana, causing a passenger in the flatbed to be hurled into the roadway and sustain major head injuries.
At 5:45 p.m. the driver, Jose Olmos, 18, was northbound on Interstate 5 near 4th Street, traveling about 60 m.p.h. in the slow lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. Olmos drifted to the right and into the barrier, the CHP said.
The injured passenger, Sal Jimenez, 21, of Mesa, Ariz., was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was listed in critical condition.
