Hilliard Chosen Player of Year
Brent Hilliard of Cal State Long Beach has been named NCAA player of the year by Asics-Volleyball Monthly magazine.
Hilliard, a former Dana Point High standout, was third in the nation in kills per game (7.42). A junior middle blocker, he was the first Long Beach player to be named player of the year.
Two of Hilliard’s teammates joined him on the All-American first team--Alan Knipe, a former Marina High player, and Matt Lyles, formerly of Orange Coast College.
USC’s Jason Perkins, a former Corona del Mar standout, was an honorable-mention selection.
