Legends Cup: Australia Beats U.S.

Rod Laver and Ross Case led Australia to a 5-2 victory over the United States in Laver’s best-of-seven-match Legends Cup Sunday.
Australia had led, 2-1, after Saturday’s competition. The United States evened it, 2-2, when Marty Riessen and Jackie Cooper defeated Ken Rosewall and Roy Emerson, 7-5, 6-2.
But in singles competition that was limited to best-of-three 12-point tiebreakers, Laver beat Tom Gorman, 8-6, 5-7, 7-5; and Case defeated Roscoe Tanner, 7-1, 9-7.
