LAGUNA BEACH : Head-On Crash Kills 1 Driver, Injures 2nd
A head-on traffic collision on Laguna Canyon Road on Tuesday left one motorist dead and another in critical condition, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics from the Orange County Fire Department pulled the critically injured motorist from the crumpled vehicle and transported him to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
The other motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither victim was immediately identified.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in an unincorporated area south of the San Diego Freeway. It forced the CHP to shut down traffic on Laguna Canyon Road from El Toro Road to the San Diego Freeway until about 8 p.m., said Tom O’Donnell, a CHP dispatcher.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
