Benito Aguirre Tranquilino, 34, of Newhall was pronounced dead at Samaritan Medical Center-San Clemente about 12:20 p.m., less than an hour after the accident that ejected him from the car on the freeway south of Ortega Highway, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Bruce Lian.

No other motorists were injured. Aguirre was changing lanes at about 80 to 85 m.p.h. when he swerved to avoid a second car and struck the cement barrier, Lian said.
