STILL GROWING: Orange County growth was the talk of the 1980s, but the Inland Empire is where population is booming in the ‘90s. Even so, state demographic figures released Wednesday do show Orange County behind only Los Angeles County in raw numbers, up 61,000 people in 1991. . . . The county remains the state’s third largest, with two cities in the top 10: Anaheim (ninth) and Santa Ana (10th).

Los Angeles: 9,087,399
San Diego: 2,602,244
Orange: 2,512,198
Santa Clara: 1,531,796
San Bernardino: 1,530,562
