Pincay Rides Favorite to Wire-to-Wire Win
Surprise News, the 8-5 favorite, led all the way and scored a three-quarters of a length victory Friday in a $35,000 turf allowance at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Laffit Pincay, Surprise News easily established the early pace in front of Dixie Derby and widened her advantage heading into the stretch.
Rose Window, ridden by Pat Valenzuela, rallied to challenge Surprise News in the drive, but Pincay urged his mount on for the victory. Rose Window finished two lengths ahead of Me And Molly, under Alex Solis.
The victory was the third in as many days for Pincay, who returned Wednesday after missing a month because of a broken collarbone.
Surprise News paid $5.40, $3.40 and $3. Rose Window returned $6.40 and $4.60, and Me And Molly $4.40.
