ANAHEIM : Man Fatally Shot in Drug-Dealing Area

Share

A man was found mortally wounded early Monday in an Anaheim neighborhood known for its blatant drug dealing.

The unidentified man, who appeared to be in his mid-20s, was shot several times in the chest about 12:40 a.m. in front of an apartment building in the 100 block of Leatrice Lane, Lt. John Cross said. Police responded after residents called to report hearing gunshots.

The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival, Cross said.

Police have no suspects, witnesses or motive, Cross said, and the Orange County coroner’s office is submitting the victim’s fingerprints to the state in hopes of learning his identity.

Cross said there was no immediate proof that the killing involved drugs. The city recently blockaded several nearby streets and alleys in an attempt to curtail the drive-through drug trafficking that plagues the area.
