Police Coax Man With Gun Out of Trailer

ORANGE — Following more than an hour of negotiations, police arrested a man who barricaded himself in his trailer home Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a marshal carrying a warrant for his arrest.
With police officers surrounding the Carriage Mobile Estates mobile home park on 201 W. Collins Ave., Dixon Arthur Dumas, 40, surrendered without incident about 5 p.m.
Dumas was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and on a $10,000 warrant, issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for three misdemeanor traffic violations, Lt. Trey rks said.
The incident began about 3:30 p.m. when two Orange County marshals went to Dumas’ home. He apparently saw them approaching as he stood on his porch, Sirks said, and ran inside. One marshal, who went to a back window and peered inside the trailer, looked up into the barrel of a handgun, Sirks said.
The marshals left to call police, who evacuated about six people before beginning negotiations with Dumas over a bullhorn, Sirks said.
At one point late in the negotiations, Dumas came out of the trailer and said he would surrender only after television news cameras left the area. They did, and Dumas surrendered shortly afterward.
Dumas was scheduled to be transferred to Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
