Bellflower : 30% Water Cutback Eased to 10% and Made Voluntary
- Share via
Bellflower has joined the list of Southeast and Long Beach area cities that rescinded mandatory water rationing after the Central Basin Municipal Water District relaxed its water conservation requirements. Bellflower receives 40% of its water from the district. The remainder comes for local wells.
The City Council, which imposed mandatory rationing in March, 1991, has voted to switch to voluntary rationing with a goal of reducing water use by 10%. Residents are encouraged to continue following water-saving practices, such as not hosing down driveways. The city’s mandatory plan had required a 30% reduction in water use.
