LAGUNA BEACH : Police Seek Leads in Beach Shooting

Share

Police released a composite drawing of one of the two suspects involved in a fatal shooting last weekend on the beach near Aliso Pier.

Sgt. Ray Lardie said investigators hoped the picture, which is “pretty accurate,” would give them some leads.

The assailants are believed to be about 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, both Latinos, weighing about 180 pounds each. They left the beach in a full-size, light-colored, 1970s car.

Police said the deadly argument started about 9:30 p.m. Saturday because the victims thought the men had pelted them with water balloons. But it appears that their own friends had thrown the balloons, and the confrontation that followed was unnecessary.

Jeff Lee Wilson, a 19-year-old painter from Ontario, was shot in the head and back and died Monday at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

His friend Micah Stephanian, a 19-year-old student at Chaffey Junior College in Rancho Cucamonga, was shot in the arm and was treated at South Coast Medical Center.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident or know the men to call Investigator Ron Sapp at (714) 497-0377.
