Elderly Anaheim Woman Stabbed
A 76-year-old woman who was stabbed at her Pine Street residence over the weekend was in serious condition at UCI Medical Center, Anaheim police reported Sunday.
Police officials said Fern Estes was attacked by a man who broke into her home in the 800 block of North Pine Street about 8:10 p.m. Saturday. The man demanded money from the woman, and in an ensuing struggle he stabbed her, police said.
Despite the wounds, Estes managed to escape, running outside and screaming. Police, who were called, found Estes outside her residence and took her to UCI Medical Center.
Officers, including a police dog unit, searched the woman’s home and found a man, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. He was identified as Remundo Garcia, 31, of Anaheim. He is being held at the Anaheim detention facility in lieu of $250,000 bail.
