SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : 5 Students Win at State Science Fair
Five San Fernando Valley students are among 120 winners at the 1992 California State Science Fair.
“I think it’s the best showing for the Valley in years,” said Evan Nossof, public relations director for the California Museum of Science and Industry, which held the event.
The Valley winners in the high school division are Steven Goldberg of Chatsworth, who took a first; Frederick Kochak of Encino with a third, and Wendelin Wright of Northridge with a first.
Winning in the junior high school division are Kevin Shapiro of Encino with a first, and Stephanie Hwang of Reseda with a second.
Goldberg, Kochak and Wright attend Chaminade College Preparatory in West Hills, and Hwang is a student at the affiliated Chaminade Middle School in Chatsworth. Shapiro attends the Portola Highly Gifted Magnet school in Tarzana.
