A fire early Thursday in a Woodland Hills motel, which investigators suspect was set by an arsonist, left two people suffering from smoke inhalation and damaged four rooms, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The fire at the Woodland Hills Motor Lodge, 22621 Ventura Blvd., began about 2:20 a.m. and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, said department spokesman Jim Wells.

The fire was put out in about 27 minutes by 45 firefighters.

The two victims were treated at the scene and released, Wells said.

Although the fire’s cause was still under investigation, preliminary reports indicate it was set intentionally, Wells said.
