THOUSAND OAKS : 7th Annual Cleanup Planned at 3 Sites

Thousand Oaks residents can clear their garages and attics of recyclable items, clothes and household goods today during the seventh annual Community Cleanup and Recycling Day.

The city will operate collection centers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Thousand Oaks High School, 2323 N. Moorpark Road; Newbury Park High School, 456 Reino Road, and Westlake High School, 100 N. Lakeview Canyon Road.

Last year, Thousand Oaks collected 268 tons of materials, including 87 tons of recyclables, 44 tons of scrap metal and 40 tons of green waste. About 1,300 vehicles passed through the locations.

As part of the cleanup, Goodwill Industries will provide trailers at each site to collect donations of clothing, appliances and housewares, officials said. Attendants will issue receipts.
