Police Search for Suspect in Shooting
Teams of officers and a police dog scoured neighborhoods in the north end of the city late Sunday night in search of a suspect in the shooting of an unidentified man.
The victim, described as about 25 years old, was rushed into surgery at UCI Medical Center in Orange for gunshot wounds to the face and lower body, a hospital spokeswoman said. Buena Park Police Sgt. Jim Dixon said the man was in critical condition.
The shooting occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Stage Road, just west of Beach Boulevard and near the Los Angeles County border, police said. Little was known about the victim, who was taken by helicopter to the medical center in Orange.
Under the beam of a circling helicopter from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, police searched the nearby Big Tee Golf Course, as well as neighboring streets in La Mirada after several residents reported spotting a prowler in their yards.
Police described the suspect as a male, about 16 years old, about five feet tall with a bald head. He was last seen wearing tan clothing topped by a long black jacket.
