Share

A young man with shoulder-length hair has been annoying children in the Thousand Oaks and Moorpark areas, exposing himself to young girls near their schools, a sheriff’s detective said Tuesday.

Investigators are seeking help from the public in identifying the man, said Sheriff’s Detective Ross Bonfiglio.

Witnesses have described the man as white, in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and about 160 pounds, Bonfiglio said. He usually wears a bandanna or baseball cap over brown, shoulder-length hair, he said.

During the incidents, which were first reported April 27, the man drives up to his intended victim in a dark colored mini-truck and makes sexual remarks before exposing himself, he said.

The incidents have occurred both before and after school in the vicinity of the elementary and intermediate schools that his victims attend. The girls have ranged in age from 9 to 13, Bonfiglio said.

The man has then fled the area in his vehicle, without attempting to touch or grab the victims, he said.

The Ventura County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against the man.

Anyone with information should contact the East Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau at 494-8201, or the anonymous Crime Stopper program at 494-TALK or 656-1500, Bonfiglio said.
