PALMDALE : Events to Benefit Deputy’s Family
Two fund-raising events are scheduled this weekend in the Antelope Valley for the fiancee and unborn child of Richard Hammack, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed during a drug raid in Palmdale this month.
Local antique and collectible car clubs plan to hold a show and prize drawing Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rancho Vista Plaza shopping center, Avenue P and 30th Street West in Palmdale, with proceeds to go to a trust fund for Hammack’s family.
On Sunday, the owner of The Old Firehouse Restaurant in Palmdale has scheduled a benefit for Hammack’s family from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The events are encouraged but not officially endorsed by the Sheriff’s Department, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
