Incumbent Status
The good citizens of Dana Point will elect two City Council members June 2. Something very curious is happening during the campaign. The two incumbents, (Bill) Bamattre and (Judy) Curreri, are running for reelection. Strangely, neither has seen fit to mention on the sample ballot, in the candidate’s statement or the job designation below the candidate’s name, that they are serving on the City Council. Very curious indeed!
It can be anticipated that close to 8,000 people will vote in the upcoming election. Probably no more than 500, or at most 700, residents follow the political process closely enough to know who is today serving on the council. So why are Bamattre and Curreri trying to obscure that fact from the remainder of the residents?
