Missouri’s Peeler Faces Gun Charge
University of Missouri basketball star Anthony Peeler was arrested Saturday in Columbia, Mo., on suspicion of weapons and kidnaping charges after allegedly threatening a female acquaintance with a gun.
Peeler, the Big Eight player of the year last season and expected to be a first-round NBA draft choice, entered the woman’s unlocked apartment about 2 a.m., said Columbia Police Sgt. Becky Covington. Peeler went into the woman’s bedroom, bit her four times and put a .45-caliber revolver to her head, Covington said.
Peeler, 22, was released after posting a $16,000 bond, a Boone County Sheriff’s Dept. spokeswoman said.
Covington said Peeler would be arraigned early next week on charges of third-degree assault, kidnaping, brandishing a gun and carrying a concealed weapon.
