Capital murder charges were filed Tuesday against three men arrested in the shooting death of a Maywood police officer during a robbery at a neighborhood market.

Suspected triggerman Carlos Antonio Juarez, 22, and alleged accomplices Jose Contreras, 20, and Hector Reyna, 21, each were charged with one count of murder in the May 29 killing of Maywood Police Officer John A. Hoglund.

Any one of three special-circumstance allegations attached to the murder count could bring the death penalty, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Bob Schirn.
