San Diego police have identified the man whose dismembered body was found along Lonestar Road near Brown Field on Otay Mesa last week.

Police spokesman Bill Robinson said a fingerprint check determined the victim to be Joseph Edward Isetts, 58, of Chula Vista. Isetts, a 25-year employee of National Steel & Shipbuilding who lived in the 1000 block of Helix Street, was reported missing March 3.

Isetts was last seen at his home with an unidentified Latin male, Robinson said.

Isetts’ 1984 orange Nissan pickup, license plate 3K71115, also is missing, Robinson said.

Authorities were notified about the body by a motorist May 28. At the time, they said they were unsure whether the mutilation was caused by humans or animals. The cause of death, Robinson said, is still undetermined pending an autopsy and related tests.
