Two Orange County high school baseball players were drafted in undisclosed rounds by the Chicago Cubs this week in the professional baseball draft.

Ocean View outfielder Rich Crowe was drafted by the Cubs on the second day of the draft. Crowe, who batted .476 with five home runs and 26 runs batted in, has previously signed a national letter of intent with Stanford.

“I plan to meet with the Cubs and listen to what they have to offer, but I’m pretty much committed to going to college,” Crowe said.

La Quinta High third baseman Chad Leckie was chosen in a late round Wednesday, according to Aztec Coach Dave Demarest. Leckie batted .500 for La Quinta, getting 39 hits in 78 at-bats.

Cypress High pitcher Micah Stovall was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 36th round. Stovall had a 7-4 record with a 1.98 earned-run average and 85 strikeouts this season. He had a one-hit, 9-0 victory over Huntington Beach in the first round of the Southern Section 5-A playoffs.

Also drafted was USC pitcher Ryan Henderson, who graduated from Dana Hills in 1988. Henderson, who was 3-3 for the Trojans last season, was taken in the ninth round by the Dodgers.
