SMALL FACES: Even though Perry Farrell broke up Jane’s Addiction last year, fans can look for a new album from the band. It’s tentatively titled “Live and Rare,” mixing, as the title suggests, live and otherwise unreleased tracks. Very tentatively scheduled for a Sept. 1 release. . . .

Odd pairing of the week: Campy neo-disco group Deee-Lite’s upcoming video, for the song “Runaway,” was directed by Gus Van Sant, best known for gritty looks at seamy street life in his movies “My Own Private Idaho” and “Drugstore Cowboy.” The video, despite the title, is reportedly neither gritty nor seamy. . . .

Billy Joel’s version of the Duke Ellington standard “In a Sentimental Mood” and James Taylor’s interpretation of “It’s Only a Paper Moon” are among the renditions of classic ‘40s songs on the soundtrack for the women’s baseball film “A League of Their Own.” Manhattan Transfer, Art Garfunkel and Carole King are also featured, but Madonna stuck to acting in this movie. . . .

The L.A. music community is rallying around singer Victoria Williams, who has been diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis. Michael Penn, T-Bone Burnett and Maria McKee are scheduled to headline a June 16 benefit at the Whisky for Williams, who has no insurance for her soon-to-mount medical expenses.
