SAN DIEGO : SWAT Team Catches Slaying Suspect
A San Diego man who is a suspect in a double slaying was arrested Friday by a San Diego police SWAT team. Roy Nathaniel Cowan, 34, walked out of an apartment on Orange Avenue near 38th Street and surrendered after SWAT officers had surrounded the building.
A police spokesman said Cowan was charged with killing Roberto McAllister, 30, and Marvin Cottingham, 29, both of San Diego. According to a police report, the victims were shot and stabbed inside Cowan’s East San Diego apartment on the 4300 block of 53rd Street.
McAllister was shot to death and died at the scene. Cottingham was shot and stabbed and died at Mercy Hospital. Neighbors had reported hearing screaming and shots and called police.
Investigators said they had no motive for the killing.
