California / IN BRIEF : YUCCA VALLEY : No Harm Reported From Small Quake
A small earthquake near this Mojave Desert community resulted in no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The temblor registered 4.3 on the Richter scale and was centered nine miles northeast of Yucca Valley, said Riley Geary, a seismic analyst at Caltech in Pasadena. It was a possible aftershock of the 6.1 magnitude Joshua Tree earthquake that rocked Southern California on April 22, causing dozens of minor injuries. The quake was felt in the nearby towns of Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms, said Mark Laggren of radio station KRXB in Barstow.
