Irvine Motorist Killed in One-Car Crash
An Irvine motorist was killed early Friday when he lost control of his car and crashed. Police said no other vehicle was involved.
Officials said Sharma Vinay Kumar, 37, was driving east on Dyer Road near Pullman Street about 2 a.m. Friday.
“He lost control of his car and hit a raised center divider and then two trees,” said Maureen Haacker, a spokeswoman for the city. “He was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered a major head trauma.”
Haacker said police do not know what caused Kumar, who was alone, to lose control. The accident remains under investigation.
