A 2-year-old boy who fell into a campfire near a Lake Piru camping area during the weekend was in stable condition Sunday at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The child, whose name and hometown were not released, suffered third-degree burns on his arm Saturday evening after falling onto hot coals about two miles north of the Temescal Ranger Station in the Lake Piru area, said Ventura County Fire Dept. dispatcher Denis Miller.
