RAMONA : Child Drowns in Family Pool
A 23-month-old Ramona girl drowned in her family’s swimming pool, officials said Monday.
The child, identified by the San Diego County medical examiner’s office as Maddie Bingham, was found by her father, Darryl Bingham, face-down in the swimming pool at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, medical investigator Cal Vine said.
Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive the child at the home in the 2100 block of Rowley Avenue. A Life Flight helicopter flew her to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she died at 11:20 p.m., Vine said.
It was not known how the toddler got into the pool or whether it had a fence around it.
