Share

The National Endowment for the Arts has earmarked $100,000 in grants for the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Dept.’s L.A. Arts Recovery Program, acting arts endowment chairman Anne-Imelda Radice announced Wednesday.

Radice has authorized a $30,000 chairman’s emergency grant to the department, which set up the fund to develop arts programs in response to the riots. In addition, a review panel of the endowment’s advisory board, the National Arts Council, has recommended an additional grant of $70,000, which will be voted on by the entire board at its July meeting.

NEA funds-- A story in Thursday’s Calendar erroneously stated that the National Endowment for the Arts had earmarked $100,000 in funds for the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department’s riot recovery program. The funds will actually go to the California Arts Council to be disbursed to Los Angeles for similar programs.

These funds are in addition to a $50,000 NEA grant to the cultural affairs department that was announced earlier this week.
