Public Artwork

The public should be outraged at the latest piece of downtown artwork. It is in the quad of the recently completed federal building and courthouse on Temple Street on the east side of the Los Angeles Civic Center.

The piece of art resembles the outline of four human forms standing and facing each other. They are made out of what appears to be sheet aluminum and standing at least 20 feet tall. The shocker is that they are full of holes similar to targets used at a shooting range, i.e., full of bullet holes. Is this what we need for artwork in downtown Los Angeles? Where is the sensitivity to the increasing violence from gang-related shootings?

I recommend it be melted down into something more tranquil and maybe more representative of justice since it is in front of a courthouse.
